Colorado's First Snow

When you wake up on a Colorado morning after freshly fallen snow, powder graces your eyelids and looking to the sky 360 days of sunshine, powder puffs line the sky!

Boulder is nestled at the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  Living in the valley, you can sled, ski and hike, walking up the hill from Broadway and Baseline Road to this majestic site with so many sites and sounds, nature is hiding or vastly abound!

Deer always come down the valley, running here and there.  If you stand very still, they will not be very scared!  Such scenery graced my front yard saying good morning :  there were Colorado Bluebirds, Rabbits and deer, school children crossing my yard year by year!

If you hike or drive to the top of Boulder's Flagstaff Mountain, you look to town and see the University of Colorado and Boulder's town.  Then turn around, and see climbing into the sky, the Colorado Rocky Mountains and the Colorado Continental Divide!

In the evening you will find a blue sky in downtown Boulder and thinking that the snow will never stop you find yourself in silence.  Everyone has found an eatery or a good cup of hot chocolate.   You have found so much to see and do at the 16th Street Mall.

Mom and Pop, Boys and Girls... Come Grandma and Grandpa you're never too old.  The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory at Pearl and 13th on the mall.  If you can't find it here, you can't find it at all.  There is White Chocolate Fudge, and Candy Canes too.  Caramel Apples with sprinkles and Fruity Foot Loops.  There is caramels and creams, toffee and coffee.  There is Old Fashioned Taffy and Peanut Butter Mocha.  Suggestions and Mentions turn into candy inventions!  You must make just one stop here!

Hotel Boulderado, fine eateries during the day.  The Christmas Tree all ready for children to play.  In the evening, fine dinner and an eatery too, for a sandwich and coffee, chocolate milk for little ones too.  When the children are all nestled so snug in their bed, the adults go down to the piano bar in the basement night cap.

You cannot leave Boulder without visiting Into the Wind.  This Kite store has developed into a multi media toy store over the past 30 years.  Every imaginable old fashioned, newly fashioned toy is here. There is a black light room with posters and Galaxy stars and planets glowing in the universe.  There are jacks, and card games, climbing ladders, and squirt guns.  Hula Hoops, and balls, with walking toys and balloons.  Keep your imagination going , it's all here!

If you live here or visit here, keep this on your calendar.  Wings Over the Rockies and in Boulder's Airport there is a show to end all shows.  This year, December 5, 2015 Denver's Wings Over the Rockies hosts the White Christmas Ball.  Advertising soon, Boulder's Airport and Wings Over the Rockies will have a June 2016 Summer Event posted.  Take your wife, your sweetie, or come stag, you will never forget this memorable evening.  Take a look at this wonderful evening of nostalgia where World War II comes alive!  You have to see it to believe it!

North Pole

Colorado is more than skiing and the Denver Broncos. There are an abundant number of activities for the young and old. With the Christmas season quickly approaching it is only appropriate that my first post is about the North Pole and Santa Claus Workshop. Nestled at the foot of Pike’s Peak, just a few miles west of Colorado Springs, you will find a winter wonderland.

...

As you stroll through the park, the sounds of Christmas music can be heard. The winding paths are full of children running from ride to ride while parents do some early Christmas shopping in one of the many specialty stores located inside the park. Although the admission seems steep, there is quite a lot to do inside the theme park. Unlimited rides and shows are included with your ticket and don’t forget the highlight of the trip, Santa Claus. Photos are available for purchase, but visiting the great man is included with your admission.

There is no money exchanged in the park. Every visitor is given a purchase card. When you purchase food, the card is marked with the amount. If you purchase items from the gift shop, the card is marked with the amount and the purchase is sent to the exit where you pay for everything marked on your card and retrieve your items when you leave the park. Although it is nice to not shell out money at every store, it would be easy to get carried away and overspend, so keep track of your purchase card amount. The arcade is the only place where real money is used.

Santa’s Workshop is a great place to visit. However, it is located at the base of Pike’s Peak, which is higher in elevation than the city, bring jackets and coats. The weather will most likely be colder there and it may even be snowing. It is also built into the side of the mountain; therefore the paths are steep and uneven. Wear sensible shoes and clothing to avoid falls and chills. Even though the park is open year round, except Christmas Eve and Day, it is always best to call first to ensure the park is open and check on weather conditions.

Although the website recommends three hours to explore the whole park, I recommend a whole day. There is so much to see and do and a lot of walking, plus the kids will surely want to do their favorite rides twice or more. Picnic tables are available if you want to bring your own food into the park, and parking is free. This will most likely become a yearly tradition for my family and hopefully yours.

Tag

Tag restaurant is something that Denver should be proud to have. I have lived here for a number of years. I have always been told by friends out of town that Denver is sort of a joke when it comes to good places to eat. Places that could never stack up to the best restaurants in the country. Tag is taking Denver to those places. It may not be able to be on that list as of yet. However, I think it could one day be up there. Tag location is 1441 Larimer St.

I went to Tag for a bachelor party a good friend of mine was having. He ask me what suggestions I had. I said Tag would be good. Only knowing I had had one good item on the menu, and that was a long time ago. It was the tuna tacos.  I had enough a memory that I was confident that at least if nothing else everyone could have those. I do recall being in a rush last time we were there. I told them we were going to see a play that night and the wait staff did everything they could to be fast. Because of that I will always remember this place.  I knew the tacos would be good, I also knew the wait staff if nothing else would be attentive to our group.

Both ended up being true, the tacos as usual were phenomenal and the waitstaff outstanding. We were seated in the underground of the restaurant. I didn't even know that it existed. I ordered to start a kumquat drink that was rather good. I have to admit since it was a bachelor party I did have a few drinks in me already. I don't drink often so my recommendation of the drink may not be the best. I'm just being honest with you. I do however recall the food a great deal. I soon saw the tacos I spoke of earlier, on the menu. I also was intrigued by a kobe sliders and short ribs. I shared the tacos and burgers with three friends. All of us loved everything about it. So much we got another order of the Tuna Tacos. They had some type of mango salsa on the top that put them over the edge. They were little as I recall from the first time. My friend the bachelor made a comment that he could eat a hundred of them.I think I could do the same. However,  I do have to admit the kobe burger is my new favorite thing. It was a typical burger, but like most burgers the meat that was chosen, made it. I knew Kobe was the best meat, and this proved it. I also loved the fries. They had some type of sugar on them.  Brown I am assuming. It gave them a great flavor and a sweetness that I have never had on fries. The food was excellent and in my opinion will only get better.

Tag is a restaurant that seems to be striving to always get better. I am excited to see how much better it is next time I visit. I was impressed and haven't had a bad experience yet. Hopefully I never will. The true sign of a good restaurant is to never have a bad night. I think that Tag can achieve this no doubt. Kudos to you Tag! I will recommend you and be back myself! One day soon we will be able to talk of you as a restaurant that is up there with some of the best in the country.
