Tag

Tag restaurant is something that Denver should be proud to have. I have lived here for a number of years. I have always been told by friends out of town that Denver is sort of a joke when it comes to good places to eat. Places that could never stack up to the best restaurants in the country. Tag is taking Denver to those places. It may not be able to be on that list as of yet. However, I think it could one day be up there. Tag location is 1441 Larimer St.

I went to Tag for a bachelor party a good friend of mine was having. He ask me what suggestions I had. I said Tag would be good. Only knowing I had had one good item on the menu, and that was a long time ago. It was the tuna tacos.  I had enough a memory that I was confident that at least if nothing else everyone could have those. I do recall being in a rush last time we were there. I told them we were going to see a play that night and the wait staff did everything they could to be fast. Because of that I will always remember this place.  I knew the tacos would be good, I also knew the wait staff if nothing else would be attentive to our group.

Both ended up being true, the tacos as usual were phenomenal and the waitstaff outstanding. We were seated in the underground of the restaurant. I didn't even know that it existed. I ordered to start a kumquat drink that was rather good. I have to admit since it was a bachelor party I did have a few drinks in me already. I don't drink often so my recommendation of the drink may not be the best. I'm just being honest with you. I do however recall the food a great deal. I soon saw the tacos I spoke of earlier, on the menu. I also was intrigued by a kobe sliders and short ribs. I shared the tacos and burgers with three friends. All of us loved everything about it. So much we got another order of the Tuna Tacos. They had some type of mango salsa on the top that put them over the edge. They were little as I recall from the first time. My friend the bachelor made a comment that he could eat a hundred of them.I think I could do the same. However,  I do have to admit the kobe burger is my new favorite thing. It was a typical burger, but like most burgers the meat that was chosen, made it. I knew Kobe was the best meat, and this proved it. I also loved the fries. They had some type of sugar on them.  Brown I am assuming. It gave them a great flavor and a sweetness that I have never had on fries. The food was excellent and in my opinion will only get better.

Tag is a restaurant that seems to be striving to always get better. I am excited to see how much better it is next time I visit. I was impressed and haven't had a bad experience yet. Hopefully I never will. The true sign of a good restaurant is to never have a bad night. I think that Tag can achieve this no doubt. Kudos to you Tag! I will recommend you and be back myself! One day soon we will be able to talk of you as a restaurant that is up there with some of the best in the country.
